PHRASEONET is the result of two research projects carried out by the FRASEONET group (GI 2061), from the University of Santiago de Compostela, on Phraseology and Paremiology: one autonomous, funded by the Xunta de Galicia (code PGIDT04PXIA26302PR), and another national, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (code FFI2010-15092), both directed by Mª Isabel González-Rey.

Its main objective is to promote the group's lines of work and to publish the results of its research, both theoretical and practical. Its aim is to contribute to consolidating Phraseology and Paremiology as fully-fledged linguistic disciplines, as well as some of its applied branches: Phraseodidactics, Phraseotranslatology and Phraseography.
